Standards and sources
BankLint only checks rules it can trace to a retrieved primary source. This page lists those sources, their versions and dates, and what is deliberately not checked yet. Last reviewed 2026-10-18.

SEPA Credit Transfer rules
SEPA Credit Transfer Scheme Customer-to-PSP Implementation Guidelines (European Payments Council, EPC132-08), 2025 Version 1.0, effective 2025-10-05. It applies to pain.001.001.09.
BankLint's rule pack sepa.sct.pain001.v09 v1 contains 31 rules: 24 requirements and 7 recommendations or checks that depend on your agreement with the bank. Each rule is written in BankLint's own words and cites the guideline section it is based on; the EPC document itself is not reproduced. See the rule reference.
The guidelines are re-checked before each rule pack release. Rule packs are versioned: a new guideline version becomes a new pack version with its own effective date.
Not checked yet, on purpose
- End of unstructured addresses. The EPC postponed the deadline on 2026-09-09 and has not yet published a new date. BankLint will add an address rule only once the new requirement and date are published.
- IBAN check digits. ISO 13616 has not been retrieved as a source.
- SEPA rules for pain.001.001.03. The 2025 guidelines cover pain.001.001.09 only; .03 files get XML and schema checks.
- Creditor reference (RF) check digits. The guidelines do not require the bank to validate them.
- Bank-specific requirements and rejection codes. BankLint does not claim to reproduce any bank's internal checks.
- SEPA Instant, CBPR+ and other message types are out of scope.
